Placing himself inside the Top Five of our current quarterback rankings, Shaffer sits under the radar as we head into the summer camp season but the talent is there to see his recruiting and overall stock rise over the coming months. What Shaffer has going for him the most is his physical look and ability to make all the throws. The Mustangs senior passer shows excellent arm power as well as the zip to get the ball into small creases. Shaffer is a good athlete too that handles the pocket well, being able to maneuver away from oncoming rushers. The offers haven’t arrived as of now but that may change after Shaffer finally takes the reins over at quarterback this Fall and leads his Mustangs team to a possible big 2024 year.

Shaffer is a quick-footed quarterback who is patient in the pocket. Knows where receivers are on the field and delivers a catchable pass. Possesses a quick release and a live arm and fires the ball through the tight spots. Drives deep passes with speed. Sells ball fakes, naturally looks off the safety, and easily gets the ball downfield throwing on the move. Works to pick up yardage with his legs.

Coming in ranked 2nd for the 2025 quarterbacks, Shaffer is a guy that does not have much film and some may wonder why he is up this high but I’ve seen enough clips on this Mid-Tennessee signal caller to say he will become an eventual Power Five, D1 player. He spins a beautiful football that shows zip along with the arm strength needed to make all the proper throws. The ball just explodes out of Shaffer’s hand, so he can put on ya quick, which is something that translates very well to the next level. The Mustangs rising junior is also well built physically with good enough athleticism to maneuver the pocket, keeping away from the pass rush. Much is left to learn about Shaffer as he doesn’t have many meaningful snaps yet but the upside is definitely there to become an eventual college level quarterback.
