Talon showed exactly what he’s shown throughout the offseason. Offensively, he’s extremely polished for an Upper Peninsula prospect. He won his blocks, finished his blocks, and did a great job in that area.
Defensively, Talon played an even better game. Although Marquette got crushed, Talon consistently won his reps and was all in all the most physical Marquette defender. On top of that, Talon is incredibly competitive, which is something I didn’t see too much last offseason. That said, he expressed some emotion in negative ways, but I am happy that Talon is so passionate about how his team is performing.

Talon committed to Central Michigan on July 31. I’ll be honest—I was very surprised. For a while, Grand Valley State was heavily pursuing Talon. I fully expected Talon to commit to GVSU, but he ends up betting on himself as he’s now a future Chippewa.
Talon will either play guard or tackle at the next level. At Central Michigan, I expect him to be more of a Guard prospect. Over this summer, Talon has repped at Tackle, and he’s shown significant improvement. His kickstep has gotten very smooth, and he’s developed a very consistent punch. Talon can occasionally get caught guessing, and good defensive ends make him pay for it. All in all, Talon is more of a raw prospect, but a very coachable prospect. I expect it to be a while before Talon earns playing time, but if he does, be confident he’ll be good!

Talon comes in at #127 after a truly great offseason. I’ve recounted this story a few times now, but here it is again. I first saw Talon at the HAWK camp in Farmington. There, GVSU Head Coach Scott Wooster took notice of Talon. I watched as Talon won some reps and lost some reps, then got coached up by Coach Wooster. Quickly, Talon corrected a few of his mistakes and showed some immediate improvement. Quite some time later, I watched Talon at the GVSU Prospect Camp. Talon showed improvement from the HAWK Camp, put up some good reps against great competition, and earned an offer afterwards. Talon remains as an underrated prospect all the way up in Marquette, and I have no doubt he has a high ceiling at the D2 level.

What a month it’s been for Talon. During mid-may, Talon made the trip from Marquette down to the MHSAA HAWK Camp. There, I saw Grand Valley State head coach Scott Wooster take notice in Talon. He wasn’t perfect, but I watched Talon take coaching well and immediately correct some mistakes. A month later, Talon came to Grand Valley’s first prospect camp and he earned an offer.
Talon isn’t the most polished lineman yet. In fact, he needs to work a lot on his initial punch, and he can struggle keeping balanced and maintaining good fundamentals late in his pass set. Though, his measurables are good, he has good anchor, and wins way more than he loses. Talon is a very high-upside lineman who I fully expect to end up in the GLIAC.
