Pavel had a good day.
I will admit that Pavel was below-average when it came to athleticism. In those pre-compeition drills, Pavel definitely has room to grow.
Though, during the 1on1s, Pavel looked like a completely different player. Pavel’s feet were faster, his punch was solid, and he made sure to get his reps. I thought that when the rubber hit the road, Pavel was quite impressive. I still think that Pavel will be an absolute steal to whoever picks him up. Athletesism needs to be a priority moving forward, though.

I’ve talked about Pavel at nauseam. Usually, I come up with article titles then find players who fit that mold. Thing is, Pavel matches the critera for a LOT of the ideas I come up with.
I’ll hit the main points again here. Elite size, elite measurables, multi-sport athlete, and seems like a very good guy. Listen, he is a bit raw fundamentally, but so are most offensive linemen. The way I see it is that if you’re polished + have great size, you’re going to a Power 4 team. Many times, I see unpolished prospects with good size earn MAC or D2 offers.
Pavel has elite size and can hold his own against decent DL talent in the offseason. I saw Pavel at one of the MHSAA showcases last year, and he did well, but didn’t have many college coaches looking his way because he wasn’t an incoming senior. I know he’ll be at the Brighton showcase in a few weeks, and I frankly expect him to earn his first offers there.
I’ve always had a high opinion of Pavel, but I honestly don’t know what colleges will think of him. I hope I’m right in my high D2 evaluation.

There aren’t many things that will intrigue the college coaches quite like a 3-sport athlete that stands at 6’7 and 300 pounds. McCutcheon is a year-round competitor and has likely been saved by his willingness to travel to camps and ability to keep his Hudl updated.
Pavel has done nothing but climb our rankings. His strength and size give him an extremely high ceiling right off the bat and has done a ton of work on his technique and footwork. It’s absolutely paying off and will likely be the major reason colleges are ready to take their chance on him.

Pavel is one of those guys that I’ll be discussing a lot this offseason. The short if it is that I fully expect him to be a GLAIC target.
He has the height, has the skill, and seems to have the mentality. Very few offensive tackles are able to move as well as Pavel (but there’s still room to improve). In addition, he’s a 3-sport athlete and a year-round worker. I fully expect Pavel to see the fruits of his labor this May, and I’m very excited to watch him perform in front of college coaches. Big boost and well-deserved.

If you couldn’t tell already, Pavel is someone I am extremely excited about heading into this offseason.
Right now, I have him ranked as an elite Division 2 prospect, and I fully expect (but do not guarantee) that he’ll receive plenty of GLIAC offers.
Size is half the battle at offensive line, and Pavel passes that test with flying colors. I’m not sure about his arm length, but he’s a true 6’7″ and moves extremely well for his size. I see a lot of taller, skinnier linemen fail to earn offers because of their wonky movement, and that is NOT Pavel. He’s tall, very well-built, and moves better than some D1-offered offensive linemen.
After watching Pavel in person and on film, I can confidently say that he has good enough fundamentals to impress a lot of coaches. When it comes to pass blocking, he might struggle early on in the offseason, but I know he has the basics down and will 100% get coached up as long as he attends camps. His run blocking is equally good, but not great.
Pavel is raw, and there will be a great learning curve once he gets to college. Though, the sky is the limit. He’s a 3-sport athlete, has the size, and decent fundamentals. Again, no guarantees, but I’d be shocked if Pavel isn’t an elite GLIAC prospect.

I really liked what I saw from Pavel during yesterday’s game. In fact, I firmly believe he’ll be a top-tier GLIAC prospect this coming spring.
I watched Pavel closely throughout the game. In the dozens of blocks I watched him attempt, I only counted one loss. While run blocking, Pavel has enough power to eliminate just about any defender on down blocks, and he has the agility to effectively execute reach blocks.
While pass blocking, Pavel knows the fundamentals of his kickstep and I like that he keeps his hands up. He’s not the most agile or fluid, so I’d expect him to struggle against quicker defenders, especially those with a good inside move. Though, Pavel was going up against a solid EDGE rusher and won each and every time I watched. Especially when his defender tried to win on the outside, Pavel always flushed him out of the play.
In addition, Pavel was calm and collected when the game got out of hand. Some of his teammates expressed negative emotions, while a few guys like Pavel talked with teammates about what to do better (in a positive way).
With his size and current skill, Pavel will 100% earn GLIAC offers. If he continues to improve, the MAC is not out of the question.

Pavel is a pretty raw prospect as it stands right now, but he has the size and strength to really do some damage. He’s a basketball player as well, so his agility is definitely being worked on and improved, which is encouraging. He seems to thrive in the run, and he does a great job of tossing guys that try to go around him. Going forward I would like to see him develop a few more tools to negate pass rushers, but I think getting out to some summer camps and being coached up by various coaches could really help him there. Overall, I think Pavel has all the physical tools necessary to be successful, as long as he puts in the work!

Pavel is 6’7″ 280. That alone could get you a scholarship offer in some instances. For comparison, Taylor Decker (Detroit Lions Tackle) was 6’7″ 315 in high school, and I honestly think he had a lot to work on coming out of high school, then went to Ohio State, got coached up, and killed it.rnI’m not saying Pavel is Taylor Decker, but with improvements to his fundamentals, he could easily become a B1G/SEC prospect. That said, Pavel needs to work a lot on his pass blocking fundamentals. His kickstep is okay, but he looks off-balance. His run blocking sports a lot of power, but he just needs to work on agility. I watched a few basketball highlights of his and there he looks like a monster in the paint. Pavel is an extremely high upside prospect who should receive a lot of college attention soon.
