The incoming freshman corner already has a few games of varsity ball under his belt, as he played sparingly for Heathwood Hall last fall as an eighth grader. In three games, he had 14 tackles, two pass break-ups and a forced fumble before transferring into the Dutch Fork system.
By January 3, he’d picked up his first Division-I offer (South Florida), and a few weeks later he earned top defensive back honors at the Prep RedZone Next camp. By the time he was able to practice with the Dutch Fork varsity in June, he had added two ACC offers and one from an SEC program. He then spent the summer earning a starting spot on the Silver Foxes’ defense.

Our defensive back MVP from the day, Gibson looks like he could suit up and play for Tom Knotts and Dutch Fork High School tomorrow. Gibson has the length and athleticism that immediately alerts you to his upside as a potentially elite corner. His movement skills are excellent and he has great ball skills as well. As he continues to hone his craft, he’s a candidate to play early in high school.

- Gibson’s combination of size and speed makes him a natural boundary corner, able to jam receivers at the line, then backpedal and match them in coverage.
- Gibson isn’t just physical with receivers mind you, as he also shows the willingness and ability to tackle in space coming down hill against the run as well, a trait that is increasingly rare in a Corner these days.
