Winkler was a tackling machine all day. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound senior linebacker is very tough and physical, shows great downhill speed and instincts, and can land some big hits on contact. He is Mount Carmel’s fastest linebacker, constantly flows to the ball and makes open-field tackles without overpursuing. He holds offers from Western Illinois and Indianapolis.

, who took home the title of LB MVP and was the top performer in the testing drills among the linebackers. Stephen got off to a blazing start with a great testing portion, posting marks of a 4.54 40-yard dash, 4.3 shuttle drill, 9’10” broad jump, and a 7.00 L-drill. The biggest thing that stood out about Stephen was his quick-fire instincts as he tracks the ball and can pick up on RB routes with ease. He is quick to step into his gaps with the ability to flip his hips and get back into coverage. Very good lateral speed with sideline-to-sideline range. It was a non-padded camp, so we didn’t get to see Stephen’s tackling ability, but watching the tape, he flashes as a secure tackler. Winkler currently holds an FCS offer from Western Illinois.

Winkler is an excellent outside linebacker at 5’11” 210 pounds. Very good in coverage being able to cover in space and flip his hips. Good speed and long arms makes up for lack of ideal height. Runs extremely well and does a nice job getting off blocks to make plays. Contributes on special teams coverage and is a solid tight end on the offensive side. Good overall athlete that makes winning plays. Not out of realm he could even play some safety.
