Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
In only 10 games, Hanson threw for 2,721 yards and 24 touchdowns in only 10 games as a junior. Strong pro-style QB with great poise and leadership qualities. Efficient with his footwork and mechanics he stays in rhythm and maintains balance throughout his drop back and delivery. Functional athlete that can escape pressure with his eyes downfield to locate a target. Deserves to see a bump in recruitment as a senior.

At 6’1” 170 lbs., Hanson is an impressive pro-style QB that blends his athleticism, strong fundamentals, and natural feel for the position. He flashes excellent footwork and clean mechanics, allowing him to throw with rhythm, timing, and consistent accuracy from the pocket to all three levels. His ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain his platform separates him, especially when working through progressions or facing a collapsing pocket. While he’s primarily a pocket passer, he shows the ability to extend plays with his legs using subtle movement, smart angles, and quick instincts to create second chance throwing windows or escape pressure. Threw for over 2,700 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior. One to watch this upcoming season.

at Desert Vista is a perfect example. In their pass-heavy offense, Hanson’s calm base and balanced drops set him up for success on every down. Even under pressure, his feet keep moving at the right rhythm, helping him maintain balance and composure. That sense of calm starts with his footwork and ripples through the rest of his game.

was a real bright spot for Desert Vista in 2024. Even though the team had its struggles, Hanson’s knack for making big plays stood out and kept them competitive. Hanson’s best performance came in a big win over Valley Vista, where he threw for 452 yards and five touchdowns to lead Desert Vista to a 42-36 victory. It was a showcase of his ability to put the team on his back and deliver in a shootout. In another standout game against Corona del Sol, Hanson racked up 439 passing yards and five touchdowns but unfortunately wasn’t able to come out on top, losing by just three points. Off the field, Hanson also shined academically, earning a 5.0 weighted GPA and landing on the 2024 Sports360AZ All-Academic Football First Team. His combination of athletic talent and academic excellence makes him a player coaches don’t want to miss. As he continues to grow, Hanson is shaping up to be one of the state’s most intriguing young quarterbacks.

put on a clinic against Corona del Sol on Friday night. Throwing the ball an astonishing 53 times without an interception, he completed 62% of his passes and finished the game with 432 yards and five touchdowns. This kind of dominating performance is nothing new for the standout junior quarterback who’s now surpassed 300 passing yards in four games this season — doing so in back-to-back games, twice. Not afraid to throw the ball down the field, Hanson’s accuracy with his deep ball is remarkable and he has no problem getting it over the top of the defense. Although Desert Vista came up short, Hanson did everything he could to will his team to victory on Friday night.
