A 2028 wide receiver that has huge growing value in this 2028 Nebraska class is Grretna East’s Sawyer Thompson, as I feel this young man was slept on big time via rankings based on what he’s put together in his junior season thus far. Sawyer is not only a fluid route runner from top to bottom on his routes, but his ability to come back to the ball with his tracking ability really shows you how well this young man can improvise on his routes. He has an elite get off on the top of his route which sets the tone with his change of directon he has to create early seperation on his crossing routes. He’s not afraid to the do the dirty work as a run-blocker either, which is a hidden trait that you don’t see many wide receivers put on film as a lot more should like Sawyer across the Midwest. I have moving up at a minimum at the moment 3+ spots within this 2028 wide receiver group.

Here’s another player who could carve out a bigger role in year 2. Sawyer Thompson Sawyer Thompson 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR/DB Gretna East | 2028 State NE impressed on the Griffins’ freshman squad, where he flashed as a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. He projects very well as a receiver who can route up DBs and make plays downfield and over the middle of the field, or he can take quick dump-offs/screens and let his speed and burst propel him for big gains. Thompson’s toughness also stood out as he displayed strong hands at the catch point and the ability to hold on through contact. Thompson brings additional versatility to the table with his ability to return kicks and even take direct snaps on designed runs for him. Defensively, Sawyer plays with great instincts in coverage as he uses his top-notch vision and range to make plays from anywhere on the field. Good ball skills make him a threat to go up and force turnovers/PBUs. Great two-way player who should develop nicely in a rising prospect factory.
