The 6’1″ 205 lbs junior LB out of Wisconsin Rapids is a very intriguing recruit. He is slightly undersized for the position, but plays the position so well. Sawyer brings the mentality and physicality to the position. He is a hard tackler, quick to read and move to be in position to make plays. The junior is a hunter at the second level who triggers quickly vs the run and closes even quicker. Sawyer also does well running through the front seven, laterally or downhill, while staying clean. On top of it all, the 2026 LB has the range to easily sprint to the sideline after the football. Sawyer is a kid to know in this school, in this region, and at his position overall.

of Wisconsin Rapids is another outstanding example of the depth at the position. The 6’1″ 200 lbs athlete excels against the run game. He has an instant trigger to attack the second he reads run. The junior flies through gaps with aggression and power that allows him to either rip through freely or drive the OL into the backfield before shedding and making the tackle. Every tackle he makes on tape is a punishing one that slams ball carriers to the ground. Sawyer also does a great job of mirroring the movement of RBs until they meet in the hole where he quickly brings them down. You have to love the violence and aggressive defense this kid plays. Check out the highlights.
Rankings Jump: Watch List Up to #47rnSawyer doesn’t quite fit into a particular position on defense. The 6’2″ 195 lbs sophomore plays a hybrid safety/OLB role for Rapids, and he fits it very well. He has the size and strength to set a stout edge against the outside run. The sophomore also has the speed to be able to blitz off the edge from a wide alignment and get to the QB. That speed also allows him to be put deep and asked to cover half the field. We see that shine on one of his interceptions on the season. Despite the bigger frame, Sawyer has the lateral agility to be able to make tackles in space against smaller, shiftier athletes. Brooks is a Swiss army knife type of defender who can help in a lot of roles.
Sawyer put himself on my radar with a solid showing. He checked in at a well put together 6’1″ 190 lbs. He ran a 5.03 and jumped 8’6″. Great starting points for a freshman looking to develop himself into a next level prospect. The underclassman faced a lot of higher competition throughout the day, and was up for the challenge. Despite not having a ton of experience under his belt, Sawyer looked solid in space. As his instincts continue to develop with experience we could see him make big strides because he has the athletic traits to build upon. The freshman has a solid future ahead of him.
