. We saw the senior line up at LB and also DL this season. I love the relentless attack that you see from Sam in the trenches. While he has more of an LB size/frame the senior wins with hand use, quickness, and a physicality needed to disengage and defeat blocks. Sam is quick to attack downhill and has the body control to make the sudden lateral cuts to avoid a blocker or to position himself so he only has to defeat half a man on his way into the backfield. The senior’s motor seems to be running at 100 mph every snap. A team needs to swoop in and get this steal.

Stats: 5 Tackles
Sam was the top defensive player in the D3 Championship game. Sam looks the part of a next level LB with his strong 6’2″ 215 lbs frame. Lomira needed Sam to have a big game to slow down the Rice Lake rushing attack and he was up to the task. Sam showed he could quickly disengage from blocks, came downhill with violence, and was a very sound tackler that quickly shut down all forward momentum on his tackles. Sam plays with a strong base of instincts as well that allowed him to quickly diagnose and flow with plays. He is on the rise and still available.

Sam made big plays on both sides of the ball, and looks like he could be looked at as a TE or OLB/DE. We are going to focus on his defensive work this week. It looks like Sam has continued to grow. His frame and arms look very long, especially when getting his hands up in the passing lanes. The junior DE knocked down a couple balls in Week 6. Sam’s first step off the snap jumps off the tape too. Very explosive, and got him accelerated to top speed within a stride or two. He has some bend to his game, and does a good job of using his length to keep OL away from his chest. As Sam continues to develop and grow into his frame I have a feeling we will see a big breakout. Stay up to date with the Lomira athlete over this next year.
