A bit leaner, Ryder is more of a sideline-to-sideline linebacker with the ability to get outside and cover the flats. He has great closing speed, and we feel he’s an FCS linebacker, even if the offers don’t yet reflect that.

It seems like a lot of high-academic teams are flirting with the idea of offering Kilgannon and I’d go ahead and pull the trigger if I were one of them. We have him ranked more in the Group of Five range than even the FCS range, so teams would be silly not to jump on the bandwagon. He plays both edge and linebacker and has great bend. I think he ends up off the ball in college, but his ability to rush the passer can’t be ignored.

I really thought Ryder was impressive in his first season in the Charlotte Christian program. Ryder showed the ability to rush the passer off the edge, play in the middle of the defense against the run game, and drop and play in pass coverage in passing situations. I’m excited to see his continued improvements into his senior season.

With offers from Lenoir-Rhyne and Cornell, Ryder is a very good linebacker who runs a laser-timed 4.76 40-yard dash time. Good size along with that physical ability will definitely have more colleges interested in his abilities. Ryder was also named an All-Conference player last season. Ryder is definitely a three-down linebacker in my eyes – he shows good discipline and speed in zone coverage in the passing game, he tackles well in space against backs and receivers, and he has enough strength to be a force against the inside run game. If he can add weight and maintain his speed, he will be an even more impressive prospect.
