Pankey measures in at 6’6 230-pounds playing varsity basketball and baseball as well. The TE/OLB for Montrose has already been catching stream on the college circuit and with good reason. He had 5 receptions for 66 yards with 2 touchdowns, 84 total tackles (21 solo, 63 assisted), 28 TFL, 3 sacks, 15 QB pressures, 5 PD, and 1 FF. Very good athletic ability due to very good lateral quickness, acceleration, speed, jumping, and good change of direction. Doesn’t get a whole lot of receiving options due to Montrose’s run scheme. Very good initial quickness out of his stance. Very good hand strength, placement and strength to control and steer his opponents easily. Very good get off and block shedding. He does a great job splitting double blocks and getting the TFL. Pankey doesn’t stop until the ball carrier in his grasp demonstrating his very good pursuit. Very good tackling as well. As a tight end, he has great athleticism and a large catch radius to come down with catches. Great two-way prospect.
The 6’6 TE/OLB had a massive game against Palmer Ridge. He had 11 total tackles (2 solo, 9 assisted), 3 TFL, and 1 sack. Pankey has good athletic ability due to very good lateral quickness, acceleration, jumping, and good speed. Very good initial quickness out of his stance. Uses his very good hand strength and strength to eat up blocks and get behind the line of scrimmage. Very good get off speed and block shedding. Good ability to hold a double block and split it. Pankey has a relentless pursuit and doesn’t stop till the ball carrier is in his grasp. Very good tackling. Patient on swing passes, read options, etc. He’s got a great future ahead of him.
Pankey is looking to ball out on both sides of the field in Round 2. The 6’6 225-pound TE,DE has good athletic ability due to very good jumping, good acceleration, lateral quickness, and speed. He is an impressive blocker with very good strength and hand placement. He gets low and over powers the defense. Very good hand strength. On defense, he uses his good block shedding and get off speed to beat the OL. Pankey has very good competitive toughness, playing through the whistle. He’s a smart player not getting fooled on option passes or swing plays. Pankey has very good tackling, and uses his strength to wrap up the ball carrier and stop them in their tracks. I’m very excited to see him in round 2.
Pankey has transitioned from a physical blocking tight end into a defensive difference maker this season. With 32 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks and a forced fumble, he’s consistently creating chaos in the backfield. Pankey’s combination of size, strength and leverage allows him to shed blocks and close on the quarterback with authority. His physicality sets the tone for his defense, and his ability to disrupt plays before they develop makes him a key defender coming off of the edge. As the postseason nears, Pankey’s name continues to gain attention from college programs looking for an edge defender who can impact both the run and pass game.
Pankey measures in at 6’6 225 pounds, and is a very versatile player. He plays TE, DE, and P. He has good athletic ability due to very good jumping, good acceleration, and speed. He’s a big body that is slippery to tackle after the catch. Pankey has very good strength and is a very good blocker. He leads the way for his RB in both the first and 2nd level creating lanes. As a DE, he has good get off speed, paired with relentless pursuit. He doesn’t give up on the play, and plays through the whistle. He’ll put his hands up at the LOS to create pass deflections as well. Smart player. On a screen pass, he fooled the defense into thinking he was blocking, and scooted out for a TD. As a punter, he has a big leg to flip the field and put his defense in good position. Kid’s a stud and I’m excited to see how he continues developing throughout the course of the season.
Pankey is a dynamic player who excels at disrupting the backfield and creating chaos. With 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks on the season, he’s proven his ability to create pressure and get into the backfield. He’s also versatile, contributing as a tight end and blocking a field goal on special teams. Pankey’s quickness off blocks and edge rushing ability make him a high upside defender to watch, especially if he makes appearances on the camp circuit. He is a two-way player that scouts should have eyes on especially at his size.
