made a big splash in his first season at Malcolm Shabazz, leading his team to the state finals and delivering his best statistical year. After transferring from Clifton, Romelo took his game and physical development to the next level. Now standing at 6’1” (and looking closer to 6’2”), his more prominent, muscular frame has set him apart as a prototypical quarterback prospect.
Romelo’s physical tools are undeniable. His arm strength allows him to push the ball downfield quickly, and he shows flashes of dominance in delivering deep passes. However, accuracy on those throws remains a work in progress, as receivers often adjust to underthrown balls. Improving this aspect of his game will be key to unlocking his full potential.
Beyond his arm talent, Romelo’s ability to stand tall in the pocket and operate an efficient offense had been a significant strength. Under his leadership, Malcolm Shabazz’s offense resembled a well-oiled machine for most of the season. Additionally, Romelo is a threat with his legs, showcasing mobility, making him a dual-threat option.
Currently uncommitted, Romelo was early interested in UConn, but his recruitment has yet to gain full traction amid the chaos of transfer portal season. That said, his size, arm talent, and overall presence as a quarterback make him a compelling Division I prospect. With time and development, Romelo could grow into a major contributor at the collegiate level, and his recruitment journey will be one to monitor closely in the coming months.
