, the No. 1 running back in the 2027 class, lived up to his billing. The 5’9”, 170-pound playmaker put on a dominant display against Cherokee, finishing with a career-high 184 yards and four touchdowns—all in the first half on just 10 carries. His burst, speed, and acceleration were on full display, breaking off multiple runs of 20-plus yards. Coney’s performance showed why he’s considered the top back in his class, as he simply overwhelmed an overmatched defense.

. I would describe Coney’s running style as full-speed and violent. Understanding that linebackers track hips when in pursuit, we see Coney weave and jump-cut to elude defenders and also opt to deploy the stiff arm. He trusts his speed, looking to bounce outside or bounce backwards to regain more than he lost. With defenders draped on his back, the freshman back has shown the propensity drive his legs in order to stay upright and carry them for hard-fought, additional yardage… all the while having the conscious of mind to prioritize ball security. Also serving as a linebacker, Coney is a good, low tackler. One thing I would push Coney to focus on is following his track. Speedy, yes he is, however, running inside-out is what college coaches look for in an every-down back.

kept coming up in conversations with various people in New Jersey as a running back to try and see live. While I never did get the opportunity to watch him play live, I am blown away from the film and stats I’ve seen from him. A verified 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds, he’s box squatting over 400 pounds and his 4.4 speed in the forty makes him a special running back prospect for only being in the class of 2027. He’s well-put tother and runs just as hard, as he does fast. Ideally he stretches out another inch or two and keeps his phenomenal speed and strength. He should have no problem getting early attention from P5 programs. Coney will be at St. Augustin Prep in the fall.
