We wrote about 2028 running back and linebacker Ridge Blackbear Ridge Blackbear Ridge Blackbear 6'1" | 210 lbs | ATH/LB Sequoyah-Tahlequah | 2028 State OK this offseason because his sophomore film was some of the best we watched. He is a very fun player to watch at the running back position and it’s no surprise that he ended up being a breakout star for the Indians last fall. Blackbear finished with nearly 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. Sequoyah was very balanced offensively or he could have flirted with 1,500 yards or much more. Defensively, he also added nearly 50 tackles. Blackbear might end up being a linebacker at the next level, but we think his greatest impact for Sequoyah will be on the offensive side of the ball.

During the latest ranking update for the state’s 2028 class, we watched quite a bit of film of athletes all over. It’s hard to find a better highlight tape than Tahlequah Sequoyah’s Ridge Blackbear Ridge Blackbear Ridge Blackbear 6'1" | 210 lbs | ATH/LB Sequoyah-Tahlequah | 2028 State OK from last season. Blackbear was a new name for us during this update but his film was one of our favorites. This kid has to be one of the strongest running backs in the state, regardless of class. There are multiple plays where he looks bottled up in a swarm of three or four defenders and somehow comes out the other side. There are other plays where he is quite literally dragging defenders for up to five extra yards. Blackbear was incredibly productive in addition to being a player that embraces contact and looks to dish out as much punishment as possible.
