Expert Analysis
Cole Dobbins | Prep Redzone Scout
One of the premier players in the state holding down one of the most historical starting QB spots in the country, Wise has continued to deliver in leading the Chaps this season. A true dual threat, Rees is a great athlete who can also make any throw on the field. He excels at sifting in and out of the pocket and making the decision of whether to take off or change arm angles and delivering a strike downfield. Wise has a great feel for the pocket and excels at standing in and delivering deep touch passes down the numbers. One of the best QBs in the state, Rees looks to add a rivalry win to a strong senior season before taking his talents to the Ole Miss Rebels.

Rees throws a great deep ball with anticipation and velocity both down the sideline and over the middle of the field. While he excels at standing in the pocket and delivering accurate strikes in the face of pressure, Wise also flashes the ability to extend plays with his legs. The Chaps’ senior leader will look to carry them to a big-time win tonight.

Westlake should be considered one of high school football’s versions of QBU. And Wise, the recent Ole Miss commit, is continuing that trend. A smooth operator with fluid release and great touch on deep balls, Wise is a stud in the pocket. He also displays accuracy on throws outside the pocket and under pressure. Additionally, Wise has sneaky speed and can break off long runs and even run through defenders. These dual-threat attributes allowed Rees to account for over 3,000 total yards and nearly 40 total touchdowns in 2024. The first team all-state signal caller should be in store for a monster senior year, where he will strive to lead the Chaps to a state title and prep for his next chapter in Oxford.
