About Ramero
Expert Analysis
Brian Jerzak | Prep Redzone Scout
Trevino totaled just under 1100 yards on the ground while finding the end zone sixteen times last season. He is built low to the ground and – like most of the guys on this list – has excellent feet. He is tough to bring down because of his low pad level and strong frame. Arm tackles are rarely going to get the job done. With his agility and balance, he will bounce and spin off arm tackles all day long. Once he is at the second level, one tackler rarely brings him down. His speed is impressive as a running back and in the passing game. Trevino is not involved in the passing game just to catch screens and passes in the flat. He will split out wide and make plays running routes like a receiver.

Trevino doesn’t give defenders much to hit when running the ball. He is all knees and shoulder pads – if he can even be hit. He has excellent feet and instincts – especially at the line of scrimmage. His jump cuts and ability to quickly get up to top speed make him a dangerous guy out of the backfield. While his not a big back, he is thick, and combined with his low pad level, he can break arm tackles even against bigger players. Also a threat out of the backfield, the junior doesn’t just catch passes in the flat; he can make plays downfield in the passing game too. His sixteen touchdowns last season put him into second place – all-time – in Willmar history.

One of best Outstate RBs in the state going into 2023, Willmar’s 5’10, 210 lber. Ramero Trevino caught my eye and stood out during December’s PRzMN Stock-Up Showcase for a bunch of good reasons. Being able to impressive in both a camp/showcase setting and on the gridiron isn’t an easy ask, and Trevino looks and plays even better in pads, showing off balance, burst lateral agility, and good hands out of the backfield. He also sees the field well, and can beat down defenses going North-South or burn them with finesse with surprising git-up and effective cuts for a back of his size. He’s got one of the most balanced skillsets in the state and is a three-down RB who keeps tacklers guessing for four quarters of competition. Can’t wait to see him as a senior. No reported recruiting interest or offers as of right now!

has added another layer to Wilmar’s offense, as he is a threat both on the ground and through the air. He has a surprising range of routes, and can get open anywhere on the field. In fact, despite being 5’10” and weighing 210 pounds, Trevino frequently lines up in the slot. On the ground, he is just as if not more dangerous. Right away, I noticed his legs chopping through all of his runs, whether it was a three yard gain or a 30 yard rumble. Trevino doesn’t shy away from contact, and will gladly take a low hit if it means a few extra yards after the fact. He can stop on a dime and force arm tackles with his redirections, a unique skill to have for someone his size. He also shows surprising poise for someone his age as he waits for plays to develop in front of him. This patience, and more importantly, trust in his blockers, shows a sense of maturity and poise that will translate well to the next level.
