Helsham delivered an impressive all-around performance while leading Desert Oasis to a 33-19 victory over Spring Valley. The senior quarterback showed his ability to beat a defense with both his arm and his legs, throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns while adding 56 rushing yards. Helsham looked comfortable directing the offense and showed the athleticism to extend plays and pick up yards when opportunities opened on the ground. His dual-threat ability forces defenses to account for him on every snap and gives Desert Oasis multiple ways to attack opponents. Helsham’s Week 4 performance was another strong example of the playmaking ability he brings to the quarterback position.

Helsham was a new addition to the 2027 QB rankings after showing some promising flashes as the sophomore backup for Desert Oasis in 2024. Passed for nearly 800 yards and 9 TDs in a limited role last season. Still has some physical growth and technical development to improve upon but his natural arm strength and mobility outside the pocket contribute to considerable upside worth keeping an eye on over the coming seasons. Look for Helsham to continue to make the most of his opportunities as he gets into his junior season with the Diamondbacks.
