After recording four sacks as a sophomore, Burnette showed flashes of the pass-rushing ability that makes him one of the more intriguing young defenders in the area. With another offseason of development, expect his production to double—or even triple—as he becomes a disruptive force off the edge for Page.

Burnette had a great season that seemed to fly under the radar for Page. A high-motor pass rusher, he created plenty of havoc last season, not only leading the team in sacks, but also creating multiple quick pressures that led to interceptions. Even more impressive, he had two picks himself on screen passes, where he broke off his rush to put himself in the best position to make a play.

Burnette’s emergence as a strong edge rusher has been a welcome sight for Page. He’s also made an impact in more than one way for the Pirates, actually picking off not one, but two passes. We haven’t seen a ton of his film, so we’re looking forward to diving in during the offseason, because from what we’ve seen, he’s a sophomore to watch.
