After an impressive Senior Season, Way will take his talents to Colgate to play football. The 6’0″ WR, had a solid season, and is one of the top pass catchers in the state.
Way has a high IQ, and elite speed. He excels down the field, and can easily find his way into open space. I like his footwork on routes, especially stop and go reps, where he displays elite traits. Way has good hands, and can make plays through contact. Colgate is getting a star at Wide Receiver.
Congratulations Peyton!

Way is a frequent camp attender who has left his mark in every competition. Standing at 6’0″ 190-pounds, the New Hartford WR made a lasting impact with Lead Scouts at events.
Easily and not surprisingly Peyton Way
Peyton Way 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR New Hartford | 2026 State NY was one of the best receivers in West Grove all weekend. Earning a top performer without question, Way showed you again why is the 31st ranked prospect in New York.
On film, Way is no different. He can lineup across the LOS using his understanding of Zone and Man coverage to create mismatches and find the open room across the field. He is difficult to tackle and extremely shifty making easy cuts to escape defenders. His route tree is elite and he seems capable of creating separation on every route.
Way is an elite prospect who will easily rise in the next 2026 rankings. The New Hartford prospect is for sure a top WR in the state of NY.

Peyton is explosive from the slot. He has quick feet and can run routes at a quick pace. He has good long-run speed and is an overall playmaker. He can get up to grab contested balls, and he fights well through contact.

Ranked 31st in the 2026 New York Class, New Hartford Peyton Way should be lining up for Syracuse Elite on Saturday. A good chance he is in Vic Castillo Vic Castillo RB PA top 40 next week too.

Immediately caught my attention before knowing anything about him due to his build. 6’0, 190 pounds, cut up from the waist up. My colleague Caleb Holfoth would then inform me that Way is easily one of the better junior wideouts New York has to offer, understandably so.
Awesome route runner in this setting,

‘s subtlety in and out of his breaks had opposing DBs off-balanced. Great tempo, Way displayed an understanding of when to come out of his breaks with juice, or when to throttle down and lull DBs to sleep. Not a ton of wasted motion, the kid is precise from snap to whistle. He picked up an offer from Colgate after this event concluded. Here’s what the PRZ New York lead had to say in a recent piece covering Syracuse Elite in its entirety.
Peyton Way
Peyton Way 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR New Hartford | 2026 State NY was the star of the Syracuse Elite team—there is a reason he is among the top WR prospects in the class of 2026 in New York. Way looks physically ready to play at the next level—in fact, I would go as far as saying that with all the talent at WR in the tournament, not many had college-ready bodies or movement skills. While Way can still get stronger, he looks the part.
All tournament Way flashes strong hands, catching away from his body and quickly transitioning from catch to tuck.
I was able to confirm in person the same stuff you see on tape: Way is an excellent route runner. He has a loose lower body, so he makes cuts and can be explosive out of those cuts. His routes are simple and effective. Too many guys get lost or do too much at the stem of their routes, but that is exactly where Way creates the most separation.

He did a lot of his work over the middle of the field amongst a lot of defensive bodies, he can play both inside and outside, but I like his upside as a slot receiver who can separate toward the field or boundary.

A twitchy WR who was able to work the middle of the field at a high rate for this offense. The quickness off the LOS granted him a fluid release when facing DBs in press situations. Further, post routes that were run deep presented the separation ability and long speed that Way has in his game. Did make contested jump ball catches in the end zone on fade routes. Impressive quickness in slant routes in goal-to-go situations. Lastly, the field vision to find open space to gain additional yardage was present throughout his tape in producing large levels of YAC.

Way has had multiple very productive seasons for New Hartford – the WR prospect from Section III has 1,641 receiving yards and 28 total touchdowns over the last two seasons. When you turn on the tape, I think Way is one of the top route runners in this class – he shows good short-area quickness and has some burst out of his breaks.
He has quick releases off the LOS, and he understands how to attack defensive backs who play with poor leverage and create a lot of separation. My favorite part about Way as a prospect is that he is a strong-hands catcher and a physical downhill runner after the catch.
There is a lot to like about Way’s tape – the multi-year production is a plus, and although there are some flashes of speed, I think coaches will be really happy with the way he can win and separate on routes at camps regardless of how he runs.
