About Owen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a running back who can run the ball well and be a threat in the pass game when in the slot or out of the backfield. I am very shifty and explosive and have the ability to make defenders miss.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe that I am the best player on the field whenever I step out on the field to compete. I also believe that I have the ability to score a touchdown on every play and put my team in the best position to win.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in key club, which is a club where you volunteer around the community by doing service projects and helping other people out around my home town. I am also involved in buddy baseball which is an organization that involves playing baseball and teaching special needs kids how to play. I was recently inducted into the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As I have gone through high school I feel that my leadership has taken a big step forward and I have tried my best to put my teammates before me and lift them up before worrying about myself. This has been a big focus of mine this year as I become a upperclassman.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

As a sophomore, I was pulled up to varsity 12 hours before the first game and put in against multiple SEC commits and was brought into a brand new playbook that I needed to learn. I was pulled up because our all-state running back was hurt and when he came back it was tough because I did not see the field as much as I would have liked. It was hard to wait my turn and keep believing in myself.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college where I am valued for who I am as a player and a person. I also want a college where winning is a standard and is the ultimate goal. I want to be put in the best position to became a better football player, student, and a better man.

Yorke is a versatile weapon that is primarily a running back, but could also bring value in the return game and as a slot wide receiver.  Runs hard and has speed in the open field.  Loves to use jump cuts in traffic to make defenders miss.  Hits hold hard and takes good angles. Quickness in tight spaces.  Nose for the endzone when inside the five.  Brings a lot of upside as a pass catcher out of the backfield.
