Top 80 debut for this young Champlin Park Rebel, and it’s a safe bet that this one is going to continue to rise! The younger brother of Brady Schornstein, a sophomore LHP at Minnesota-Duluth, younger bro and 2028 Owen has topped out at 87.2 MPH on his fastball, making him a talented baseball prospect in his own life, and the 305 bench and 425 squat also lend itself to Shornstein’s potential as a football recruit. A 6A starter at DL for a Champlin Park team that went 8-2 in 2025, Schornstein posted 20 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1 PBU as a sophomore, aligning as a 3T, straight-up DT, and occasional OG.
He shows off some instincts in the first play of highlights, retracing his steps and sniffing out a screen before it can fully develop, and Schornstein is also quick off the ball, technically sound, can find and snuff out ball carriers in the backfield for losses. The underclassman can shock, lock out his arms, and shed OL after locating the ball with noticeable ease, and he’s laterally agile and can gain width off the snap to put OGs out of position and over their feet. He also flashes a good bull rush, as he can win the low man battle and drive his feet post-contact. Schornstein is also a strong, physical OL who can generate pancakes and strong finishes off routine down blocks and a vicious, physical puller who sent some second-level defenders flying onto their butts thanks to his force at the contact point. The excellent footwork, balance, and COD ability definitely aid him there. We’re very excited to see how this young multi-sporter develops on both the gridiron and baseball diamond in the coming years.
