is hard to miss. He has the size coaches covet and can scan the field calmly and cleanly behind any OL. Smyth has a quick motion in which he does a good job aligning his front shoulder to his target. He’s got good accuracy at all 3 levels and is confident rolling and throwing to the left and right. Smyth has the arm strength to air it out deep as well, being able to put touch on the ball or pace when he needs to. Theres a lot to like about Smyth’s tape so far, but I think his got so much more growth in him in SR year and beyond. He’s got the size, arm, and athleticism (3-sport athlete) you look for in a scholarship QB. I want to see him make more challenging throws as a SR which will solidify him as a major prospect – working the middle of the field and layering the ball which from what it seems may have just been the scheme. The ceiling is high for young Smyth.

At 6’4 and 200 pounds, Smyth has the physical frame and raw tools that scream next level potential. He was impressive on the camp circuit and showcased a live arm that can stretch defenses. After transferring to ThunderRidge, Smyth steps into a crucial leadership role for a program eager to bounce back from a winless season. His presence in the huddle, combined with his arm strength and competitive drive, gives the team a new energy. Smyth has the upside to become one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class if he delivers early and often this fall.

A little QB competition is brewing up at Valor and with good reason too! Another prototypical size for QB at 6’4 189 – pounds, Smyth showcased good poise and production throughout the event. He has a very good release and very good throw power. During the drills, he showcased very good footwork and fluid hips. When the WRs hit the field, he shined. Showing his very good deep ball accuracy and very good ball placement skills. He was able to fit the ball in tight windows to his receiver. Again, keep an eye on Smyth as him and Unruh continue competing at QB for Valor.

Smyth was one of the most impressive quarterbacks on the day, flashing a powerful arm and elite deep ball accuracy. He consistently delivered strikes with zip across the middle, without putting his receivers in tough spots. Smyth’s ability to air it out and make high level throws in one on ones caught some eyes and placed him firmly in the MVP conversation as one of the top 3.

Smyth is a highly intriguing prospect who may spend another season waiting in the wings, but when his opportunity comes, he has the tools to be one of the top quarterbacks in the state. With a strong arm and impressive accuracy, he is capable of making every throw on the field. Additionally, he possesses mobility, allowing him to extend plays and keep defenses honest. As he continues to develop, Smyth has the potential to become a Division I prospect. His name is one to remember when he gets his shot, he will turn heads quickly.
