A name that got on my board as one of the best defensive backs at the SMSU Prospect Camp this summer and is now a SMSU commit as of yesterday is Nile LaszczakNileLaszczak

of Forest Lake who had one of the best defensive outings I saw coming from the Rangers defensive at the Bemidji State Big School Team Camp. Regardless if it was slowing down the run or pass, Nile wasted no time penetrating into the backfield and making the sure tackle in what I have seen has been a quickly growing and physical tackling ability seen this summer. Via my notebook and his clips from Bemidji, Nile showed consistently to be the first one at the point of attack. He’s got a ton of position flexibility he can bring to the Mustangs secondary as far as where he lines up and I surely feel that SMSU got themselves a sleeper in our 2027 rankings out of Forest Lake as I think Nile’s best football is ahead of him from a developmental standpoint.
Nile got a ton of reps in at the SMSU Prospect Camp as the 2027 defensive back from Forest Lake showed off sound growth from his junior season. I felt with how much coaching he got at SMSU, it elevated his play even quicker as that quickness is where he stood out to me. He showed off well-versed footwork and I thought his ball-tracking ability showed possibly the most growth as well in the reps I watched. He has gotten more open with his hips while changing directions which I feel will elevate him as a senior for the Rangers to get from sideline to sideline even quicker. Surely has a solid shot of playing on Saturday in my eyes.
A starting safety for what was a talented Forest Lake squad last season, Laszczak is an athletic DB who has seen success across a variety of positions over the past couple of years. His physicality and aggressiveness stood out to me very early on in his tape. He’s got no problem blowing up blockers to make a tackle, and frequently showcases impressive closing speed when stopping the run. He’s very careful not to overpursue and can erase cutback lanes, especially in the box. With a productive camp circuit this summer, Laszczak could catch a lot of recruiting attention.
