The first of two quarterbacks Iowa City West will use this fall, Mike Moody almost looked like Janis’s twin in QB form on Friday night. Where Moody wasn’t super impactful as a passer, he made up for it with his ability to carry the rock. He’ll need to improve off Friday’s performance as a passer if he’s going to keep defenses honest, but as a runner, Moody wasn’t afraid to lower his shoulder and made some plays out of nothing when the pocket collapsed. He took 13 carries for 46 yards and a score.

is set to make an impact one way or another for the Trojans this fall. More of a mobile athlete that can make some plays with his legs, Moody isn’t a precision passer, but he can extend plays get the first down with his legs if need be.
Also a bigger body that could play on the defensive side of the ball or serve as a decoy in a trick play, Moody’s presence on the field will help West out offensively.

Moody’s Hudl page contains a sophomore highlight video from three games in 2024. What we see on it should mean an expanded role this season with good health. He’s athletic with a frame capable of adding mass and strength without losing quickness and agility. The broad base of skills and natural gifts keep open the door for multiple positions on the next level. Moody looks capable and comfortable at receiver. His long arms and leaping ability help him win 50-50 balls, and he also can take a short pass and turn it up field for a chunk play. That’s thanks to burst and speed, which allows him to take the top off, too. His traits also make him an effective safety. Moody is no slouch at quarterback, either.
