Named game MVP for his work against the Firebirds, Jones was a difference maker in the Tornadoes 47-27 title win as he ran for 120 yards and 4 touchdowns with 3 of them coming in the first half. Alcoa made it a point to utilize Jones and their run game and it worked to perfection as Pearl Cohn had no answers in slowing down the Tornadoes junior back, especially in the red zone. It was an easy choice for our player of the game as Jones produced a high level game with 120 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns in the Tornadoes 19 point 4A title game win over Pearl Cohn. Whenever Alcoa got into the red zone, Jones touched the ball and just about every time, he found paydirt. The Firebirds had a hard time grasping onto the Alcoa back and bringing him to the ground, due to his broad build and powerful legs. Jones had some good action on defense but it was his work on offense that helped bring another “Gold Ball” to the Alcoa hall ways.

. Jones is a physical specimen at running back that showed nice vision and that extra gear to push through the pile, finding positive yards. He also flashed on defense at linebacker, where Jones could have a future in the college game. Next year during his junior season could be the proving ground to see what level this East TN ball carrier will land at but for the moment, Jones certainly boosted his stock after performing well on the big stage.

Jones played a critical role in this title game, especially in the 1st half where he produced three touchdowns along with several big first down runs. This sophomore two-way talent made his presence known on the big stage, supplying a nice compliment to Graf in the backfield. When he was on defense, Jones provided several key tackles versus a good Westview run game. Next season could be a breakout year for Jones as he steps into a bigger role as potentially the team’s top ball carrier.
