St. Bonaventure edge rusher Matt Perez Matt Perez Matt Perez 6'2" | 235 lbs | DL St. Bonaventure | 2026 State CA announced his commitment to Nevada on Wednesday.

Perez had 90 tackles, 10 sacks, 30 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, an interception and six blocked field goals/punts.

He also had offers from Colorado State, Fresno State, Sacramento State and Wyoming among others. Perez is the sixth player from California in Nevada’s 2026 recruiting class and the second edge rusher.

Perez led all sophomores in the Southern Section with 15.5 sacks last season.

He’s an interior defensive lineman who gets off the ball well and has a great club move. When he does engage with the offensive lineman, he doesn’t stay engaged too long and throws a move quickly.
