has been one of the most productive prospects in the state for four years now. Since his freshman year, Ford has been one of the more complete playmakers in the state. He was a standout on offense, a shutdown corner on defense and a special talent as a return man. But when it comes to his future as a college prospect, Ford has seemed to always lean to the defensive side of the ball. Like a few other prospects in the state’s 2023 class, Ford’s recruitment has been somewhat limited because of perceptions of his size. But all you have to do is throw on the tape and you see Ford locking down receiver after receiver and the size just simply hasn’t mattered. Ford is arguably the top available cornerback in the 2023 class.

showed that he can play and positively contribute on both sides of the ball. On offense, he scored a 37 yard receiving touchdown and gained yardage consistently. He caught a ball while falling out of bounds for 25 yards, which he had a defender on him while doing this. He broke away with his speed for 16 yards and then again with 10 yards. On special teams, he showed off his breakaway speed, by having a burst out of the endzone for a quick 30 yards. He has a quick first step that makes him hard to cover, to go along with some craftiness. On defense, he came up with several tackles and was able to bring the ball carrier down single handedly multiple times.

. Whether it’s on the offensive or defensive side of the ball, or even returning kicks in special teams, Ford has had a massive impact, not only this season, but over the last several years. The Tigers are a very senior-heavy team this season and this group of seniors are ready to go further than this football program has ever gone before. Ford has led the Tigers to a perfect 10-0 regular season and they know that the job is not done. Ford is going to be one of the more impactful players in the playoffs. Similar to McCarty at McAlester, Ford can make plays in all three phases of the game and that is so important as the playoffs move on and the games are much tougher.

On a few of these prospect breakdowns, we’ve written about how undersized prospects might not be getting as much attention from schools. We’ve also said how the size questions are irrelevant with some of these players and here’s a perfect example of that. Coweta’s

has been not only one of the top defensive backs in the state over the last three years, he’s been one of the top overall athletes. Offense, defense and special teams, Ford has been a truly dynamic player for the Tigers. He’s a big reason why they currently sit in the #1 spot in the Class 5A rankings. But when it comes to Ford as a prospect and looking ahead to the next level. He is a lockdown corner and it seems like he’s only gotten better and better over the last several seasons.

and he backed that up throughout the evening on Thursday. In all three phases of the game, Ford was outstanding. First, on the offensive side of the ball, Ford was Starks’ leading receiver, with 11 catches for just over 100 yards and a touchdown. He also added 19 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. Then you turn around and include Ford as a defensive standout. Not only was he part of a secondary that shut down McAlester’s passing game, but he also made quite a few stops in the open field. And then as if that wasn’t enough, Ford was also electric in the return game. Ford set Coweta up with great field position several times with strong punt returns that put the Tigers in McAlester territory. We’ve watched Ford for several years now and his performance on Thursday night was not surprising at all as he was dominant in all three phases.
