-Walker was one of the breakout stars in Class 5A last season. At this time last year, we didn’t know much about Tyner-Walker and he had a terrific season as a sophomore. While some of the players listed here are two-way players that are equally valuable on both sides of the ball. Tyner-Walker was definitely a huge bright spot on the defensive side of the ball. He finished the year with nearly 100 tackles on the year, including 16 tackles for loss and a dozen sacks. The defensive breakout star was all over the field for the Irish. He also had over 200 yards and a touchdown as a receiver on offense.

in the secondary. Just like Akin, Tyner was a player that burst onto the scene last season and quickly became a name in the state’s 2028 class that we needed to know about. Tyner was one of the top ranked newcomers in the last ranking update back in the spring. It was easy to not only add Tyner to the rankings but in a top spot after the overall impact he had on the game. While Akin was a tackling machine, Tyner brought a well balanced attack to the defense. He was a heat-seeking missile but he was also a ball hawk in the Irish defense. Don’t be surprised to see Tyner also lend a helping hand to the offense.

has to be significantly more confident as he goes into the spring and summer when you consider the season he just had. Tyner was one of the breakout stars in Class 5A and after not knowing much about him heading into the 2025 season, it didn’t take long to get used to seeing his name every week. Tyner made huge plays on the defensive side of the ball. He looked like this versatile defensive back that could drop in coverage or blitz and make plays in the backfield or in run support. He brought a little bit of everything to the table for the Irish. Whether it was watching him in person or seeing him on film, we came away from the 2025 season very impressed with Tyner and what he could be for the Irish and beyond. He debuted at #31 overall.
