Nacho Rodriguez is a massive lineman at 6-foot-5 and 370 pounds and provides an intriguing powerful yet athletic skillset to complement the overwhelming frame.
While his long term potential is likely at the guard position, he played a good bit of left tackle as a sophomore and provided a generally stable presence in his first year with major responsibilities at the varsity level.
He has the power to move any type of defensive lineman out of gaps against their will and single-handedly open rushing lanes. He also boasts the athleticism to be an effective blocker working up to block linebackers both moving upfield or as a puller.
As a nose tackle, he has the size to command attention and the strength to require blocking and can open up his teammates to generate pressure in the backfield.
He will need to rework his body composition, but he has exciting potential for the next level if he can drop some of the weight.

has started at left tackle and played some nose tackle as a sophomore for Blackman, holding his own.
He has good length and a dense build that should make him a strong guard prospect for the next level.
While personally I did not see any nose tackle reps in the game I attended, he has made some splash plays from the position this season.
He is well over 300 pounds and will need to continue reworking his physique, but the raw size, strength, and athleticism in space make for an exciting guard prospect in the long run.

Makhi “Nacho” Rodriguez is a gigantic man at 6-foot-5 and well over 300 pounds. Even with his size, he moves pretty well. He’s a solid pass protection guy, but excels in the run game when he can get his hands on someone and take them for a ride.
Rodriguez projects more as a guard, but a good one. His footwork and technique are solid, but could use some polishing up. The Blaze offensive lineman is strong, extremely physical and has a high motor.

, an offensive lineman at Blackman High School. Rodriguez caught my attention at the line of scrimmage with his excellent size, speed and wingspan. Rodriguez really helped the offense to move the ball with his ability to shield his teammates from the blitz. I also liked how Rodriguez could use his arms to wrap up defenders.

, an offensive lineman/defensive lineman at Blackman High School. Rodriguez was highly explosive for the Blaze on both sides of the ball, catching my attention more on the defensive end. What impressed me about Rodriguez is his outstanding size and ability to overpower the offensive line, showcasing his ability to be a defensive presence every snap on the ball.

Another team that I have not been shy about singing the praises of in 2023-2024 has been Blackman Middle School. As mentioned above in

‘s write up, Oakland and Blackman played one of the best middle school football games I’ve ever seen in Rutherford County Championship. Despite Blackman coming up short in the game, their team had a number of really impressive kids–kids like

. While the skill guys on this team got most of the headlines (and deservedly so), it was hard to miss the ability of 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive tackle,

. He was clearly the biggest kid on the field for the Flames and was dominant on both sides of the ball at times. As big as he is, there is some room for improvement in terms of quickness and agility–specifically against speed rushers. However, that should/will improve with hard work.

Blackman Middle School had a tremendous 2023 season, which (unfortunately) came to an end in a double OT loss in the Rutherford County Championship Game to Oakland. The Flames were propelled by an incredible stable of skill position players, but the skill guys can’t shine without guys like

on the line. Right now, he’s listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds and played offensive tackle/defensive tackle this season. To stay at o-tackle, he can take his game to the next level with improved footwork and agility–and until then, bumping him down into to guard could be the move.
