We end the article with the RB out of Mahomet- Seymour. The 5’11” 200 lbs RB is coming off of 1100+ total yards as a junior. The playmaker averaged over 7 yards per carry despite having just shy of 150 carries. It is intriguing to see how he earned that average. Luke excels at running his feet through contact. He piles up the yards after contact, and thanks to his contact balance it looks like the hits barely effect him. Luke also has the speed to create the big plays once he gets to the open field too. Lastly, the RB does a good job of using his blocks and sees the field well overall. Give this kid a look. A hidden gem.

Luke is what I like to call a “vertical threat” at running back, meaning he is always moving forward and not laterally. He does a phenomenal job of running behind his pads and knowing when to accelerate and when to be patient. Built to handle the between the tackle runs at almost 200 pounds he also possesses the 4.5 40 speed to get the edge and run to the end zone. Look for Luke to definitely eclipse 1000 yards rushing again as a senior and for his college interest level to rise the closer we get towards the season. His Twitter handle is @johnsonld_072

Mr. Johnson is off to a good start this season picking up where he left off last fall. When he runs between the tackles he’s a hard runner that can get in/out of the hole quickly. You have to be careful that you don’t weak grab tackle this young man as if you do he can shrug it off and break long runs either for a big gain on the play or take it to the house for six. What’s also impressive is how patient he is in the screen game to let his blocks set up in open space. In both instances, his foot quicks are visibly shown being able to outrun 2nd level defenders in an instant once he gains a step on them. If you don’t have this young man on your radar, you need to. He’s here to make his mark and he’s doing a darn good job. Currently he holds no offers but I expect the interest to increase significantly once this season is concluded. Twitter
