He’s an inside/outside runner who is also must be respected by defenses in the passing game. He ran for 734 yards on 104 carries last season, when he also caught 13 passes for 194 yards. One thing that sets Fickeisen apart from most runners is his ball security. He carries the football high and tight when he’s running through traffic. Fickeisen has shown good acceleration, gains a lot of yards after initial contact and has a nose for the end zone in goal-line situations, when he seems to run with a little extra determination. He found the end zone 11 times last fall. Another positive trait is his willingness to get involved in the play when he doesn’t have the football, especially as a run blocker. Continued work on his speed and lower-body strength will make him even more of a threat next season.

He can run through tackles at the first level and also run away from tackles at the second and third level. He shows good vision and patience in letting the blocks develop.
