An uber-productive athlete on both sides of the ball last season, and a state track qualifier, Kleist tallied 45 Tackles, 3.5 Sacks, 2 FF, 1 INT, and a safety on defense. He also put up 427 rushing yards and 6 TDs on offense. On his tape, Kleist showcases that speed early and often. I’d argue that he looks like a linebacker at the next level, due to his unique combination of thickness and quickness, which serves him well when blitzing both up the middle and around the edge. That speed isn’t limited to playing downhill, and you can see him roam across his zone on tape, disrupting passes. Kleist could easily evolve into one of the most sought-after ATH prospects in the state after his senior year.
During his junior year, Kleist was a two-way starter who rushed for 427 yards on 75 attempts on a fantastic 5.7 ypc with an additional 6 rushing TDs, all while splitting time as the lead ball carrier. Kleist is a thick power back, but man, when you watch his tape, you can’t help but notice how quick he is. He’s almost Cam Skattebo-esque the way he can run through 3-4 defenders each play, breaking tackles the whole way. At his best, Kleist is a super physical RB with the potential to break off a run for a TD at any time. With a projected increase in carries ahead of his senior year, I expect his stock to rise considerably.

is a promising two-way player that had plenty of flashy moments during his junior year for Mankato East. Kleist competed during the showcase taking most of his reps at LB, and he did a good job holding his own in the 1-on-1 drills. Kleist does a good job with his footwork and change of direction, and he won against his blocks utilizing a solid spin move multiple times. Kleist will likely continue to see playing time at both LB and RB heading into his senior season, and he’s a name that should be on the radar toward having a huge senior campaign playing in Class 5A.
