The senior Edina Hornet is sitting at 27 tackles and 7 TFLs at the midseason point of 2022 and flies out of his stance from his DE spot. He’s got a strong lower body that helps him eat up cut blocks and I really like how he works and beats blocks to their inside gap as well as how he’ll freeze a 1-on-1 block, keep them at bay with his arms extended, and then shed the block to make the tackle. He’s a strong kid and it shows up on tape. Go Hornets!

Cummings can play any position along the defensive line. He has an explosive first step – especially as an inside player. When engaged with a blocker, he keeps his pad level low and uses his quickness to get angles on guys assigned to block him. As his position flexibility suggests, he is not the biggest defensive lineman but uses his athletic ability to beat bigger blockers. He uses his quickness off the line and low hips to double as a solid blocking tight end.
