2025 Mingo Central LB LeQues Strother LeQues Strother 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Mingo Central | 2025 State WV looks the best he’s ever had as a senior for the Miners and that’s showing up on film and in the stat sheet.
Strother is leading the team in tackles, TFLs, and sacks through four weeks with 54, 10, and 6 respectively. He’s reading and reacting more quickly this season and has good speed and quickness in pursuit of the ball. Strother is a high-effort player and tracks down ball carriers regardless of where he is at on the field. He can make plays inside or outside in space and is a versatile linebacker who has pass-coverage potential as well. Strother should receive more D2 attention this season for his level of play on the field.

16 tackles 1 TFL
2025 Mingo Central LB LeQues Strother LeQues Strother 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Mingo Central | 2025 State WV had a strong performance against Westside in a hard-fought loss. Strother totaled 16 tackles and a TFL in the 21-20 setback and put some good things on film in week two. He looks improved from a strong junior season and was flying around from his middle linebacker spot while playing with high effort and pursuing the ball well. Strother appears to be reading and diagnosing plays quicker and getting downhill faster than he showed last season. If he keeps this level of play up for the rest of the season he could be a rankings stock riser.

2025 LB LeQues Strother LeQues Strother 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Mingo Central | 2025 State WV was a great addition to the Mingo Central program last season and was the second-leading tackler on the team as a junior. Strother returns 91 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 5 sacks to a strong linebacking corps which should be the strength of their defense again this season. He’s an athletic middle linebacker with a quality frame to continue adding mass and further raise his ceiling as a prospect. Strother can be versatile in the run-and-pass game given his athleticism and can line up at outside backer at times too.
Strother should receive some D2 opportunities this season and a name to watch for programs at that level.

Mingo Central LB LeQues Strother LeQues Strother 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Mingo Central | 2025 State WV was a great addition to the Miners’ program after he returned home from a stint across state lines in Kentucky at Belfry. Strother was the second-leading tackler for the Miners last season totaling 91 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 5 sacks as a junior. He’s your classic downhill physical Mike linebacker who can also get out in space and use his athleticism in the open field. Listed at 5’11 190, Strother still has room to grow physically, but from seeing him in person at a 7 on 7 event earlier this year, he has an athletic build that can add size to his frame and moved well in that environment. If he takes the next step in his development over the off-season and into his senior season, Strother can improve his ranking and make a big jump into the Top 100 in the final update after the 2024 season.

LeQues Strother LeQues Strother 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Mingo Central | 2025 State WV made his way back to the Mountain State from Kentucky to play his final two years of high school for Mingo Central and the junior linebacker has performed well for the Miners this season. The 5’11 200 junior is your classic downhill middle linebacker who is at his best hitting the gaps at the snap. Strother has been a consistent 10+ tackles per game player this season with limited playing time in some lopsided victories. He’ll need to continue working on his reading and reacting so he doesn’t get caught up in traffic at times but when he’s firing off the snap Strother is very good at getting in the backfield. I’d like to see more pass coverage on film to see how he fairs in that aspect of the game but Strother is stout in run defense which shows up on the stat sheet.
