has been one of the more active defenders for Mingo Central through the first four games, with 39 tackles and an interception already on his senior-year stat line. He’s also taken on a bigger role offensively, stepping into the backfield and producing 129 yards and four touchdowns as a running back. Joplin may be a smaller athlete, but he plays with a physical edge and is an excellent tackler in space. He’s comfortable working closer to the line of scrimmage and is a high-energy and high-motor player. Joplin is an under-the-radar senior DB who warrants a closer look from college programs.
Mingo Central has a physical presence returning in the secondary with 2027 DB Davion Joplin. Joplin was highly productive as a junior, finishing with 73 tackles and 7 TFLs as a punisher at safety. He may be a smaller athlete, but that doesn’t show up in the way he plays, as Joplin attacks the football and isn’t afraid to deliver heavy contact. His aggressive approach and motor make him a valuable and underrated piece of the Miners’ defense heading into his senior season.
2027 Mingo Central DB Davion Joplin is one of the more under-the-radar defensive backs in the class, but college coaches are already starting to take notice. He recently picked up an offer from Ohio Northern and has begun generating interest from the small college level. What Joplin lacks in size, he more than makes up for with his physicality and willingness to throw his body around. He plays the game with an aggressive mindset, loves contact, and delivers some of the biggest hits you’ll find on a highlight reel. Joplin is simply a fun player to watch, and with another strong season, additional D3 programs should be joining the mix.
