Another critical piece for a small, but successful Iowa program, Layne Peska Layne Peska 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Iowa Valley | 2027 State IA was a Mr. DoItAll type for Iowa Valley during his junior campaign.
On offense, Peska completed a few passes, ran the ball and grabbed a few catches, along with returning the occasional punt or kick to put together 696 all-purpose yards and scored 11 touchdowns. Defensively, he finished the year as the Tigers’ second-leading tackler, posting 46.5 tackles, six TFLs and four picks.
Without a specific position at the high school level, Peska is the type of prospect that a program should bring in and figure out what he’ll play later. Whether it’s outside linebacker, tight end, or something else, Peska has a knack for making plays wherever the Tigers put him.

Peska threw for six touchdowns, rushed for two scores, delivered 44.0 tackles and picked off six passes, one of which he took to the house. He averaged 21.8 yards on 13 kick returns with two TDs. As we witness during his sophomore video highlights, Peska is quick to diagnose what the offensive is running when he lines up at safety. He breaks well on the ball after getting a good read on the quarterback. Peska operates well dropping back or playing bump-and-run. He changes directions and adjusts well while throws are in the air. Peska is a dynamic offensive player capable of chucking it deep or evading would-be tacklers as a ball carrier.
