Frieary has a bit more varsity experience under his belt than some of these other players, but he gets the nod here thanks in part to the internal expectations the staff have for the rising junior. People within the program are very, very excited about Frieary’s potential. That’s not to put pressure on him, only tot say that there are plenty of people who think he could have an outstanding year for the Crusaders.

I honestly didn’t expect Frieary to end up in the top six of our Wake County IDL Deep Dive, but after looking at his film, it was obvious that he belongs there. The rising junior has excellent size, strength, and quickness. I’m particularly impressed with his willingness to be the steady interior presence that opens things up for his teammates, and that selfless play shows up on his tape. He should continue to improve as he grows, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see college coaches fall in love with him while making their rounds next year.

Frieary probably isn’t the first, second, or even third guy you think of on Cardinal Gibbons’ talented defense, but his impact goes beyond the box score. He has strong hands and a powerful lower half, giving him a powerful bull rush. He started to flash some other pass-rushing moves down the stretch, and as he refines his technique, he’s a potential breakout candidate in 2026.
