Yet another one of my game previews was correct. I anticipated that if Rumson-Fair Haven was able to control the line of scrimmage the would win. In this contest the junior rusher let all participants in yards from scrimmage (175), touchdowns (3), and touches (29). In a tremendous effort, Murray ensured that his seniors avenged last year’s 1-point overtime loss and that he will have the opportunity to defend his title next year.

This game’s production puts the finishing touches on a 213 carry, 1581 yard, and 31 touchdown junior season on the ground. With Murray’s senior year to come, he has a very good shot at 50 career touchdowns and 3500 yards.

He finished with 82 yards on just eight attempts, showcasing his ability to move the chains and grind out tough yards. Murray’s contact balance allowed him to generate extra yards after initial contact, making him a crucial factor in Rumson’s ground attack. His performance was instrumental in the team’s dominant victory.

Murray’s incredible footwork is about as close to elite as it gets. Two plays in particular – at the 0:39 and 0:48 marks of his film – epitomize this skill. The the former clip, we how he can make a cut upfield against a backside bender to gain yardage in tight space; whereas in the later clip Murray makes several quick cuts with his feet several times to navigate in-and-out of danger several times while in the scrum. Before he makes his cuts, Murray will break down and get low, limiting his contact surface, and getting defenders to overreact at times to his movements.

Only a sophomore in 2023, Kellen Murray Kellen Murray 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Rumson-Fair Haven | 2026 State NJ is ready to build on his experience and become known across the state as one of the best backs of the 2026 class. While Kellen’s size might not strike you as threatening, his burst of speed out of the backfield most definitely will. Shot out of a cannon, Kellen goes from his pre snap stance to a full sprint in little time.

As Kellen ran for 670 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2023, he not only showed off his quickness but his agility and power as well. With the reaction time capabilities that Kellen has, he was able to jump cut sharply after the hand off to avoid pressure up the middle. You will find him time and time again using that nimbleness to carve up defenses and break ankles downfield. On top of all that, Kellen’s leg drive solidifies him as a runner that does not go down with arm tackles. He will run right through them and carry on.
