Without knowing his name until post-event when I checked the roster, I inherently knew that the prospect who turned out to be Ryder Izzo Ryder Izzo 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB/RB Rumson-Fair Haven | 2027 State NJ , a state champion whose name I am well acquainted with, was the likely the oldest running back at the event and the best athlete at his position – and perhaps the camp. Izzo had the quickest feet, and I loved the fact that he got exaggerated and got them extremely high when doing so. Although I did not get a look at him during group period, as a route runner, he attacks upfield, getting defenders on their heels quickly. In a spectacular play through extremely heavy contact, Izzo showcased his strong hands as he high pointed the ball, withstood a pounding in mid-air, and maintained possession of the ball through hard contact on the ground.

However, after seeing his official testing numbers for the day, it’s safe to say he may have been the MVP of the entire camp. Ryder was top 2 in every testing drill performed last Saturday. Posting the top 40-yard dash time with a 4.62s and best broad jump as well, the stats tell us Ryder is an explosive presence on the field that can blaze by defenders with power and speed. Showing off his change of direction, lateral quick, and ability to accelerate and decelerate, Izzo had the second best times for the shuttle (4.43s) and the L-drill as well. Ryan turned heads early by posting one of the fastest 40-yard dash times of the day, but his game speed and movement skills were even more impressive during position work.

A natural and fluid ball carrier, Izzo navigated through cone drills effortlessly, showing quick feet and a smooth change of direction without wasted movement. He ran decisively against the linebackers, too, displaying no hesitation when it was time to hit the hole and get north-south. The highlight of the session came when he hauled in an acrobatic downfield catch that immediately grabbed the attention of everyone in attendance. By the end of the event, he had firmly earned the title of my running back MVP.
