Blain shows a lot of things that you want to see from an interior offensive lineman in his highlights. He plays both center and guard for his team. Blaine’s highlights show that he’s strong (especially as a run blocker), finishes plays, and is versatile. If anything else, Blaine is going to try to drive defenders as far away from the ball as possible. There are several plays where he comes in defensive tackles, creates movement on combo blocks, and finishes blocks on defenders at the second level.
Blaine’s power at the point of attack his evident, attacking with heavy hands and force on contact. The fact that he lines up at cetner, right guard, and left guard and still look comfortable is a plus for him from a recruit standpoint. I think his best shot at the next level is most likely at center, so more snaps in the beginnign of his highlights of him at that position would be benficiary. There’s no question that he’s a dog when it comes to run blocking. Some more pass-protection clips would balance out a few things and showcase what he can do in that area a little more.
Blaine is a strong run-first interior offensive lineman prospect. I love the way he sets the tone off the snap and plays with what looks like a nasty (but disciplined) disposition. Blaine would shine in a run-heavy scheme at the next level.
