He does a good job of hitting the hole full speed and making defenders miss. His ability to make defenders miss in the open field allows him to take shorter runs into bigger gains. He also has quickness and burst. Dancear is a good running back who is a highly skilled player.

A highly regarded prospect out of Pennsylvania who made his way to the WV Combine Series this past weekend and did some good things was 2027 Gateway (PA) WR/DB Julian Dancear. He ranks as a Top 400 WR right now as the #35 WR, and you could see why our PA ranker thinks so highly of him. Dancear is a quality two-way player who can give great reps on both sides of the ball and has a bright future at both positions. He had winning reps at both receiver and defensive back at Saturday’s camp with upside and potential at both spots.

A modest ranking for a player with room for potential growth. Doubles as a WR and a DB. First rep is a quality one, yet on special teams. We see Dancear work an in route from the slot, the slot looking like a comfortable alignment for the sophomore. Has some good DB reps on tape, ones that show promising when projecting him to a larger role at Gateway. Tape lacks splash and serious production. There are a few instances that draw my attention, yet Dancear is going to stay low on our ranks until he can prove he can be a serious producer at Gateway. Would love to see him perform well this off-season, great 7v7 work could make me feel better about his future ranking.

At slot receiver, he has a great feel for the game and does a good job finding the opening in the zone. He does an excellent job catching the ball in traffic and then turning up-field to make a play. At defensive back he has excellent coverage skills, especially as a deep safety. Dancear is a good player on both sides of the ball and has a ton of potential.
