Stats: 8/10, 101 Yards, 1 TD, 7 Carries, 43 Yards, 2 TDsrnThe Brookfield East senior signal caller has been putting out strong tape on a weekly basis. The 6’1″ 185 lbs QB was in full control of the offense and the game in week 6. He carved up the defense with accurate, quick passes and pushed the ball down the field when given the chance. Cheatham looked poised in the pocket. He stepped up, or slid side to side to easily avoid pressure while keeping his eyes downfield for a target. Only when he felt there was no openings did we see him take off. He can do damage on the ground, but he is a pass first leader on the field. Give the tape a look.

2022 Stats: 48/88, 557 Yards, 5 TDsrnIn 2022 Joseph saw action in seven games at QB. In 2023 we should see him take over the helm full time. With that should come a big jump in his production across the board. Joseph is a dual threat option, so we might even see his nearly 500 yards rushing increase as well. Passing is where I want to focus. Joseph will be working with new receivers, but talented ones. Led by TE

, Brookfield East will field the targets Joseph needs. Cheatham also has the arm to create the production. He can attack the short, intermediate, and deep levels with accuracy and velocity, and his feet will be able to buy him time to find those open receivers. I’m excited for a breakout year from the soon to be senior.

Joseph is an athlete that I have liked more and more the more I watch him. He will be a riser during our next rankings update. While he isn’t the biggest QB prospect at 6′ 185 lbs the arm talent is there. Joseph has a strong arm. There are many examples of him delivering the ball down the field on a frozen rope with very little air under the ball. He can attack tight, closing windows with that velocity. His ability to place the ball where his man has a chance to catch it while protecting the ball from the defense stands out too. Joseph plays with clean footwork, and throws from a good base. The cherry on top is that Cheatham has dual threat abilities. He can hurt a defense with designed or scramble runs. Don’t sleep on the Brookfield East QB.

Stats: 5/7, 115 Yards, 2 TDs, 4 Carries, 46 YardsrnThe 6′ 180 lbs junior is an athlete that can do several different things for his HS team, as well as a next level team. He plays QB and DB for Brookfield East. His offensive work from Week 6 is what our focus is on today. Because of his ATH ability, Joseph has the speed that makes him a dangerous dual threat that forces defenses to not only cover tight, but also worry about containing him to the pocket. Cheatam’s natural athleticism, and smooth movement goes right into a natural throwing motion. Joseph makes a lot of what he does seem easy because of that natural, easy athleticism. I’m excited for his development on both sides of the ball over the next year.
