Out of Good Pasture Christian High School in Tennessee, John Slagle was excellent and had a good argument for our first team honors. Really liked what I saw from him during the Individual work, you could tell he is destined to be a Power 4 quarterback very early on.

He has clean mechanics and efficiently gets the ball out to his open receivers. That includes throwing from off-platform situations, where he already shows a strong ability to deliver.

He shows good touch on passes downfield and lets his receivers run under the ball, creating a lot of explosive plays at the middle school level.

He could use a year of working with the strength staff at the high school level to take the next step with his velocity as he tends to loft throws downfield and can wait to deliver throws over the middle of the field.

As he improves in that category, he is going to be a well-coached quarterback with a complete skillset that signals Division One potential, already beginning to earn offers during summer camps.

EXPECTED ROLE IN 2026: He will be the primary backup this season as he adjusts to the high school level before taking over during the 2027 season.

There are some excellent talents at the quarterback position that will be attending and competing at the “RIZE” event in New Jersey. I also really liked how Slagle was calculated with his throws, proving he can connect with his receiver despite heavy coverage in the backfield.

However, Kentucky couldn’t hold Slagle for too much longer. The impressive scoring play made it: three Quarterbacks, three possessions, three touchdowns.

After first taking note of him as the starter on the Tennessee Future Stars 7th Grade team in June 2024, Slagle has continued to prove that he’s one of the top Quarterbacks in Middle Tennessee. Serving as QB1 of for Good Pasture Christian in Davidson County, he helped lead the team to a 6-2 record in 2024. What particularly stands out about Slagle is the true gunslinger mentality he possesses. This season he went 84-of-125 passing, for 1379 yards, 22 passing touchdowns and six interceptions. I simply love watching this kid cook.

The only victorious starting Quarterback of the three grade levels from the Volunteer State, Slagle was impressive from the start. He made a number of nice throws on the run or off-platform that were advanced for a prospect at this level. On top of even being able to get the ball off in those situations, most passes were accurate with a tight spiral. He’s one to keep an eye on, as he develops over his middle school years.
