Lutz’s biggest strength is that he can play in space. He does a good job of playing in space and making plays all over the field against opposing offenses. He is also a good tackler who tackles well in the open field. Good job by Lutz, and he deserved a helmet sticker for his performance.

He also shows a good ability to make tackles in or near the line of scrimmage. The other thing I like about his film is his ability to play as a pass defender. He is good at dropping in coverage and taking away passing lanes from the quarterback. Lutz also shows a good ability to run sideline-to-sideline chasing plays all over the field. Lutz is a big-hitting linebacker who has the skills to improve even more this season.

As an off-the-ball linebacker, he does a good job of blitzing from different angles. He has a great feel and understands how to put pressure on the offense. He also does a good job of reading and reacting to the play and then attacking downhill. He also showed a good ability to drop back in pass coverage. As an edge defender he does a great job of setting the edge, but also attacking upfield. Lutz is a good player in the 2026 class.

Lutz is a physically built junior who just wrapped up a very good season where he totaled a team-leading 103 tackles, 16 TFLs, and 6.5 sacks. He carried that momentum with him into Sunday night’s camp with a strong performance in both skills 1-on-1s and switching over to the OL-DL portion as an edge rusher. Lutz has a good combination of size and athleticism which translated to several winning reps in the skill 1-on-1s including one of the best plays of the night during the goal line portion of the camp ripping away a one-handed interception from the receiver with an across-the-middle throw. In the few reps I saw him as an edge rusher versus the OL group, Lutz was dominant and too strong and powerful for the young linemen in attendance.

In North Hills’ odd front defense, Lutz does a good job of reading his keys and attacking downhill. In this type of defense, you usually bring one blitzer, and Lutz shows a good feel for this type of scheme. He has good instincts as a blitzer and attacks the offense well. He has a great feel for how to find the opening against the offense and then attack that spot. Lutz is a good linebacker prospect who makes a ton of plays.
