Joey has some impressive sophomore season tape. I am extremely optimistic that he’ll have a similar season at the Varsity level.

Playing strong safety and linebacker, you need to stop the run. Playing in the MAC Red, you don’t have much room for error, and you absolutely cannot take a play off.

Most of Joey’s highlights see him lining up in the box. He has a couple of on-ball highlights, which nicely showcase his getoff, though he’s off-ball most of the time. When lining up in a standard off-ball OLB position, Joey does a good job of reading run, and attacking. Especially when the run is outside the tackles, Joey does a great job with pursuit and open-field tackling. When defending the inside run, he tends to react a bit slower. Overall, I expect Joey to take another big step forward this season!
