‘s highlight tape shows him rolling right and delivering a corner ball to the pylon to a tightly covered WR, a constant theme on his tape. He knows how to layer balls in between defenders. He puts enough velocity and zip never too much never too little. He’s very calculated in his throws and his reads it’s like he sees angles and soft spots with the quick glance of his eyes. McLeish was fun and someone I expect to build a bigger name for himself going into 2025.

is a straight baller as a quarterback for Imhotep. He does a great job setting his feet and delivering a good football. His ability to get through his progressions and then throw an accurate pass is impressive. He is excellent in the pocket and has a great feel for when to throw the ball. He reads defenses well and he can deliver the ball promptly to his receivers. He also has a strong arm and shows it off when he throws in breaking routes or deep balls. McLeish had a strong year and has a chance to play even better next year.

The first career start for a sophomore taking the reigns of a 5A Pennsylvania State Title-winning program. Hardly an unknown, yet the weight on McLeish’s shoulders would be enough to have any, or most, underclassmen’s knees buckling. A Week 0 opener, Panther teammates on both sides of the ball who are accustomed to dominating, taking on a Canadian program chockful of un-scouted talent. If there were a game for McLeish to falter on, I’d argue it would be this one. McLeish was met with immediate adversity, an interception on his first drive, Clarkson North taking an early lead. Many unaware of McLeish’s nature and composure began to roll their eyes on the sideline, thinking the early blunders were a sign of more to come.
Quite the opposite. McLeish proceeded to lead the Panther offense to 26 unanswered points, doing so in a myriad of ways. The sophomore quarterback can firmly be called a dual-threat prospect moving forward. McLeish flashed his zone-read capabilities as a freshman, now proving as a sophomore that he can damage a defense with his legs as much as his arm. McLeish would hit outs and screens on time, would tuck and run when called upon to do so, McLeish would deliver dimes on corner and nine routes downfield as well. A complete performance that will likely set the tone of the early season moving forward. An unbreakable demeanor, the Imhotep coaching staff didn’t shy away from McLeish when Clarkson North began to close the gap. McLeish is the front-runner to land as the top passer in his class, so long as he continues to carve up defenses like he did this past Friday.

Cannot overstate just how impressed I came away with watching the performance put forth by the second-highest-ranking 2027 passer in Pennsylvania.
A list of things that rattle non-special underclassmen quarterbacks? How about numerous setbacks via penalties, an offense filled with new faces, a defense that picked him off in the first drive of the game, a Clarkson North offense scoring two unanswered scores to cut what was a big deficit. None of this rattled Joey McLeish, a sign of unreal maturity that shouldn’t be showcased this early into his career. Pulling the rock at the right time for huge chunk plays, manning a huddle that included numerous state title upperclassmen. McLeish was able to layer the football, rollouts, the middle of the field, balls thrown perfectly down the boundary, you name it. McLeish’s full prowess was on display against a solid Canadian team who came in with a chip on their shoulder.
A piece will come detailing the game, the good and the bad. For now, McLeish owns the spotlight.

is another prospect with limited film, but you can see the talent when you watch him. He has all the tools to be an elite quarterback. He has a great feel for the game. He knows when to get rid of the ball and delivers a good football. His mechanics are impeccable. I expect he had an opportunity to start and play a lot for Imhotep Charter.
Off-Season Update: McLeish does not have a Twitter account, so it is hard to know what exactly he has been up to. If he produces this season on the field, I expect the buzz will start to happen for McLeish.

was another consistent quarterback at the PRZ showcase and earned a top 5 recognition at the camp. McLeish is another quarterback with impeccable mechanics. He does a good job of setting his feet and throwing a good accurate pass. He does a nice job of throwing a deep ball by putting a touch on the ball. The other part of his game that is impressive is McLeish is only a Freshman, and has a ton of room to grow as a player. McLeish will be in the running for the quarterback position at Imhotep next year and I expect if he wins the job he will play at a high level.

was named one of five top-performing QBs. Exemplary mechanics, was this year’s freshman eye-popper. Had the camp buzzing with how impressive he looked throughout drills, especially after I mentioned to coaches that he had just finished his first year of HS ball. Beat out Sprankle and Corkery by a hair. Great to see others gawk over arguably the best freshman passer in the state. His ranking will be updated soon.

Question: Is he 2027’s most talented/gifted passer?
McLeish, after seeing him work in three different games this Fall, McLeish is my choice to represent the class as its top passer. I’ve still got film to watch across the state, I haven’t dived into 2027s yet, McLeish is doing good by dipping his toe into the camp scene early, against great competition too. The decision to place McLeish at the one or two spot could be swayed by how comfortable he looks against some of the best 2025 ATH in the state. Camp performances are second to tape and I know the Imhotep freshman already boasts an impressive reel even sitting behind the great Mikal Davis. He’s likely to impress coaches who aren’t in the know.

is a talented quarterback who flashed some good skill in limited playing time. He is a good athlete who can move around the pocket and make plays with his feet. He does a good job keeping his head up and looking for the play downfield when it breaks down. McLeish also shows a good arm and does a nice job of setting his feet and throwing the ball. McLeish is a talented dual-threat quarterback.

in the huddle this Fall could attribute to that, being up 58-0 by halftime could also lead to a more relaxed and confident QB. Still, Mikal commanded the huddle like he normally does and distributed the ball as the offense intended. For anyone wanting to see prime Mikal Davis, plug in this tape.

saw the first action of his career. Identified as one of the better quarterback prospects beginning his high school career. Didn’t think I’d see him work so soon. Also didn’t think I’d see him score so soon either. Could have had three scores under his belt had a long run not been called back. The freshman would have to settle for just two scores in his debut. He was accurate and on time on a slant that Haqq took for a touchdown. McLeish also powered behind his IOL to score on a QB keeper close to the goal line. The young man is poised beyond his years, excited to see him blossom and develop each week.
