McCalip is slightly undersized for the LB position but not by much at 5’11 195lbs. An All-City selection last season, McCalip brings quickness and twitchiness to the LB position for the Pirates. McCalip uses his elusiveness and twitch to avoid blocks and navigate traffic against inside runs. He also shows strong hands and the ability to shed blocks when OL do make contact with him. As a tackler, he consistently can close, wrap up, and make solo tackles in space.
His film lacks some coverage reps, and even reps where you can see great long speed, but in the box and around the LOS, there is a lot to like in his game.

is one of the most underrated players, not just linebackers in the PSAL. McCalip is a very physical player at 220lbs and does a really good job of using his strength and power to get off blocks. McCalip is also a really solid tackler and finishes guys to the ground strong limiting their ability to push for extra yards. McCalip does a good job of reading and diagnosing running plays but could add some aggressiveness to get into the backfield to his game. McCalip is a budding prospect in this class who has a really high ceiling as a linebacker.
