Jayden Thomas Jayden Thomas 5'9" | 145 lbs | WR Buena | 2026 State AZ was a difference-maker for Buena this year. The senior defensive back and return specialist gave opponents nightmares in the kicking game, leading the Sonoran region with 643 total return yards across just nine games. He averaged more than 30 yards per kickoff return and routinely flipped the field, giving Buena’s offense great starting position. It wasn’t just the numbers that made him stand out — it was how his confidence and aggressiveness set the tone for the Colts’ special teams unit. Whether it was catching kicks in traffic or finding daylight where there shouldn’t be any, Thomas brought that steady mix of speed and fearlessness that you want in a return man.

Thomas had a breakout junior season finishing with 1,052 yards on 47 receptions with 16 touchdowns. He’s a difficult cover with excellent acceleration, sharp route running, and high level ball skills. At 5’9” 165 lbs. he’s got good all around game speed from his hard drive phase off the ball to his ability to create plays after the catch. Creates quick separation with clean cuts at the top of his routes and bursting out of his break. Strong at the catch point, he flashes quick hands to snag the ball out of the air. Does a good job extending and catching the ball away from his body to come down with tough grabs in tight spaces. Dynamic route tree that can be a threat at all three levels of the field. He’s a sleeper that is flying under the recruiting radar currently but is expected to put up big numbers again as a senior.

Thomas is a 1,000 yard receiver with excellent top end speed that is a legit burner. Clean route runner that frequently flashed twitch and active feet at the LOS when facing man-press, and does an excellent job of securing the catch despite traffic or anticipating contact. Thomas does a great job adjusting his body and tracking the ball to find it at awkward angles and has that competitiveness to go up and win those contested catches despite only being 5’9″- showing a solid leaping ability.
