The Horizon QB moved up 88 spots to #90 overall in the 2025 class after a strong senior season that flashed his dual-threat ability. Voted All-District Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Region he threw for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns while adding 500 rushing yards and 11 more touchdowns on the ground. He’s a smooth passer with a quick/compact over the top release. He gets good air and touch on the deep ball while also showing he can throw his receivers open at the short/intermediate levels with precision. Calm in the pocket and under pressure, he’s quick into his drop landing with a well-balanced throwing platform ready to deliver. Shows he can feel the rush and step up in the pocket to throw an accurate ball with defenders in his face. Like that he doesn’t sacrifice any accuracy when throwing off platform or from different arm angles. Led Horizon to its first Open division playoff appearance since 2019 and the #7 ranked team in the state. Picked up his first D1 offer from Valparaiso in November to add to his offers from Western New Mexico and Minnesota State-Moorhead.

put in over the offseason, he was a player that I thought could really light up the stat sheet in his senior season. So far, he’s exceeded my expectations by far. Playing some of the most mature football that I’ve watched from a high school quarterback in quite some time, Ashley already has as many touchdown passes through four games as he did through ten last season. Currently averaging over 260 total yards per game while completing 62% of his passes, he’s holding a 5:1 TD-to-INT ratio and is on pace to finish the year with 25 touchdowns.
Heading into this matchup against Pinnacle, I have no doubt that Ashley knew he was going to have to put on an impressive performance to keep up with their high-powered offense. He seized the opportunity to show the state just how high-powered his own offense is. Without his top-tier running back for the majority of this contest, Ashley finished the game an astonishing 22-31 for just under 300 yards and four scores through the air. His quick feet and even quicker delivery made it hard for a good Pinnacle pass rush to get Ashley on the ground, who added another touchdown with his legs. He showed great command of the offense all throughout the night. Willing to take what the defense was giving him, but knowing when he had the chance to push the ball downfield — the senior quarterback consistently made good decisions.

is a natural athlete in the backfield for Horizon. He makes throwing on the run look easy. Generating plenty of torque with his lower half, he has impressive arm strength while he’s on the move. Horizon’s offensive scheme played into his strengths, often rolling him and the offensive linemen out to use that advantage. Ashley seems to have a knack for making big plays, and they almost always involve his legs – he finished this past season with over 600 yards on the ground and added 11 touchdowns. Whether that’s an explosive run play to get the offense rolling, or just using his legs to by himself and his receivers more time. Maybe the most impressive part of Ashley’s game is his accuracy throwing over the middle. Attacking the middle of the field is something that’s crucial at the next level, and Ashley will hit both his tight end, and receivers in that open area without hesitation. He also shows how much power he has in his arm, able to zip the ball into tight crossing windows before defenders can make a play on the ball. Ashley’s already a very technically sound quarterback, and he’s continuing to hone that in through the offseason. He’s sure to attract plenty of attention as he heads into his senior year.

Jace Ashley embodies a composed ferocity that makes his game both engaging and effective. His demeanor on the field is calm, cool, and collected, a steady presence that navigates turbulence like a seasoned player. His play style is a unique blend of quick and aggressive moves executed with precision. Ashley is a player who’s as technically sound as he is daring. The form on his throws is textbook, but it’s his toughness that sets him apart. He bounces back from hard hits with a resilience that’s inspiring, always ready to get back into the fray and deliver a clean throw. His tape is a testament to his arm strength, where each throw, powered by a full-body effort, rockets down the field with commanding velocity. But there’s more to Ashley’s game than just a strong arm; his proficiency with progressions displays a quarterback with a mature understanding of the game. He’s often scanning the field, moving from his first to his second option, or beyond, and it’s exciting to witness.
