Patterson is as physical as they come in the secondary. He doesn’t just play hard — he plays with a chip on his shoulder, always looking to separate the ball from the man. You can tell he enjoys the contact side of the game. Whether it’s coming in to make a hit on or coming up to fill an open gap, he brings that aggressive edge that coaches love in a DB. He’s also got the kind of makeup speed that gives him a chance on plays where others might be beat. If a receiver gets behind him, it’s not the end of the world — Patterson can close that gap quickly and still make a play on the ball. That recovery speed combined with his physicality makes him tough to beat over the top. If there’s one area for growth, it’s getting just a little quicker on his initial breaks. Sometimes he waits a half-beat too long to trust what he sees. But that’s the kind of thing that comes with reps and confidence — and the instincts are already clearly there. When he gets a clean look at the ball, his hands are strong and reliable. He secures the catch like a receiver, and that makes him a real threat when the ball is in the air. Patterson is a name worth watching as he continues to fine-tune his game.

2027 Defensive Back Jamar Patterson Jamar Patterson 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Corona del Sol | 2027 State AZ was one of the best players on this Corona roster last year. Already coming in at 6’0 180 frame as just a freshman, his sophomore year campaign is set for high expectations. Bring in 44 total tackles last season, he is a multi-dimensional athlete who we can assume will be used in even more facets of this Aztecs defense and maybe even offense. He has good diagnosis and reaction time at the safety position with solid wrap up ability. His ball skills have tons of potential after snagging an interception in his first games at the varsity level. Patterson has received his first D1 offer from Colorado State thus far. He is not just an exciting player for this Corona team, but an exciting player to watch for the state of Arizona.

At 6’0” 175 lbs. Patterson is an impressive safety prospect with great range and reactionary quickness. Equally effective in both coverage and run support. A plus athlete that is smooth in the hips and can quickly change directions to transition out of his back pedal. Like his recovery speed and short area acceleration to close space with the ball in the air. Plays well with his eyes to read and react with the instincts to anticipate and make quick breaks on the ball. Strong one on one open field tackler that can break down in space and wrap up to the ground. Takes good angles of pursuit and can bring heavy contact when he’s able to line up a ball carrier. A dual sport athlete (football/track) that picked up his first offer from Colorado State in January.
